I started doing a round-up of all my baby sewing tutorials (there have been a lot of those in the last 8 months or so, have ya noticed?). And then I decided to get crazy and add a bunch of tutorials that I have been meaning to try from sewing friends around the internet. I ended up with a list of over 50 great sewing tutorials that will be the perfect reference for baby gifts, friends' babies or your baby! I can't think of too many things more fun and exciting than sewing for a tiny babe that you've never met. 1. ruched baby bloomers 2. ...Continue Reading

pattern hack: jumbo hedgehog pillow
I hacked my own pattern to create an extra large version of the little happy hedgehog. After making a little doll to sit in her crib, I knew the baby would need just one more toy in there. The hedgehog is my favorite toy pattern that I made over a year ago. I even shared a post about the process of making the pattern just right. It is still one of my favorites to sew up. There's another post about hedgehogs right here. I had a bunch of extra polka dot fabric so I used that. It matches the back of the triangle quilt and Lena LOVES to stare at ...Continue Reading
triangle chandelier baby mobile
I made this mobile before the triangle quilt, but the triangle quilt was actually the inspiration for it. Does that make sense? Maybe I made them simultaneously. I chose the colors for the quilt from paint chips at the hardware store. I love the paint section for color combinations. Then, I used the swatches to buy fabric for the quilt. And cut up the paint chips into triangles to mimic the triangles that would eventually be on the quilt. I used black, white, and three shades of pink, just like in the quilt. This project is super easy, but ...Continue Reading
flannel + piping baby blanket
When I was in my fleece blanket making frenzy, I also made one for the new baby. After spotting Heather Bailey flannel, it just had to happen. HEATHER BAILEY FLANNEL! Don't you just love it when designers put out lines of fabric that include things besides quilting weight cotton? It's so nice to be able to find a pretty flannel! This pretty print is called Finery Pink. This is a really easy project with piped edges for a little something extra! Materials:*1 1/4 yard flannel print (44-45")*1 1/4 yard flannel solid*piping, 5+ yards*2 yards ...Continue Reading
easy fleece + bias tape blanket tutorial (with rounded corners!)
I don't know what has gotten into me, I normally HATE fleece. But this year something changed! Maybe it was this plaid fleece I saw at Hobby Lobby. There are so many cute fleece options I had to use them for this fleece blanket tutorial! Buffalo plaid gets me every time. I snatched it up to make a new blanket for Cohen's bed this winter. He's still using tiny baby blankets and his little legs are stretching out the ends of them. It's cute seeing his little toes poke out, but it's time. Plus winter is coming and a fleecy blanket ...Continue Reading
sewing 101: how to use the binding foot
I have a foot fetish apparently. Not the weird kind, the sewing machine foot kind. This is my recent addition: the binding foot! It is amazing. You can use this foot to attach bias tape and quilt binding. It's pretty useful because it lines up the needle right where you want it and you get a straight, perfect stitch! My favorite part is you don't have to pin the binding all the way around whatever you're sewing before you attach it. You just feed it into the binding foot as you feed the fabric in and voila! You can use it for binding up ...Continue Reading

ruffle hot pad tutorial
Materials: -1 solid cotton -1 print cotton -quilt batting-twill tape ruffle: 2 1/2 by 54" For the ruffle, cut out a long strip of fabric, 2.5" wide by 54" long. Fold the strip in half and press. Run a basting stitch along the bottom edge, 1/4" from the bottom. Pull the baste stitching to gather up the fabric into a ruffle. The ruffle needs to be able to go all the way around the hot pad, so set the ruffle aside for now and we'll come back to it. You might need to adjust the length later. To make the hot pad...Cut out two 8" squares. Cut ...Continue Reading
