Written by Mandy Pellegrin of Fabric Paper Glue This little creation is a huge bang for the buck. Using very basic jewelry-making techniques, you can make an elegant two-tier necklace in four simple steps (and probably no more than five minutes!). And this little beauty is the perfect way to subtly dress up a plain white tee and a pair of jeans. DIY Two-Tier Necklace Supplies: about 65" of delicate gold chain, 3 small gold jump rings, 2 delicate rhinestone dangles*, 2 pairs of pliers *Some great ones are available ...Continue Reading

Penelope Peplum Circle Skirt + Dresses Add-on Pattern Release // 3 new variations!
I have a big surprise today! An add-on pattern for the Penelope Peplum with THREE new skirt options is now available! This pattern provides full size pattern pieces for three new versions: the circle top, the circle dress and the gathered dress! The pattern uses the original Penelope Peplum file for most of the pieces, so you need to have that pattern to make these dresses and top. After making quite a few Penelope tops, I was craving a dress, so decided to make one with a gold striped knit I had and I LOVED it! It looks super cute ...Continue Reading
Penelope Peplum Sew-a-long Day 1: Great knit fabric sources
Good quality (and not hideous) knit fabrics have been hard to come by in recent years. My whole view changed this last year, however, when I discovered some great knit fabric sources. A good fabric can really change your whole perspective on the type of sewing you are doing. Not only are there knits available that aren't hideous, there are actually a TON of cute ones! Sometimes quality can be tricky to gauge online, but it is worth the risk when you get a great knit fabric in a cute print. To know what you are ordering, read the fabric type, ...Continue Reading

buy + diy: zipper book clutch tutorial!
This post was created in partnership with Bing. With a type or a swipe you can search the web, the cloud, apps, and your PC or tablet, all in one place using Smart Search on Windows 8.1. Bing recently encouraged me to try out their new Smart Search to inspire a DIY project! I've been wanting to make more book clutches for a while now, so I used the app to gather inspiration and source supplies. I made one a long time ago by upcycling a purse, but I wanted to try another way...using a zipper and fabric! I love Kate Spade's book ...Continue Reading
buy + DIY: free printable sewing themed gift wrap!
Sometimes the gift you want to give (or get) is something that isn't DIY-able. It's just a gift you purchase. Which can be just as thoughtful, nice and stressful as a handmade gift. So when that is the case, this sewing themed gift wrap will give it that extra special touch. And by do-it-yourself, all you really have to do is print it! This prints on 8.5" by 11" paper, so it's the perfect wrapping paper for something little: a small stack of fat quarters, a new package of pins or even a small item that you made! (Or anything in the ...Continue Reading
buy + diy: shimmer and shine diy nail polish kit tutorial
This post is sponsored by Tulip Holiday Sparkle and Shine products. My taste in fun little gifts hasn't really changed since middle school, I still love all the cute nail polish kits, makeup samplers, etc that pop up around the holidays. So, when a little package of glittery craft supplies came in the mail, I thought I could use them to make a cute stocking stuffer for girls. I started with a solid light pink material, taped if off and painted on the glittery Tulip fabric paint. Then I let it dry before sewing it up into a cute ...Continue Reading

floral fire breathing dragon toy sewing pattern
I made a sweet little dragon toy with some leftover fabric from a dress I've been slowly cutting up. Isn't this fabric gorgeous? I was going to refashion it into something to wear, but I couldn't resist it long enough to get there! It's almost gone already. This dragon pattern is from the Sweetbriar Sisters. They make some cute softie toy patterns. The dragon toy sewing pattern was my favorite, but this new penguin toy is a close second, so cute! I loved sewing this pattern! It was easy enough to follow but also made me feel like a better ...Continue Reading
how to screen print at home, graphic tees for baby and a silhouette portrait giveaway!
Lots of things! This is a long post! And there's a giveaway at the end, like a pot of gold or something! If you follow on instagram, you may have seen these little tees pop up in my feed on Saturday. I had lots of questions about screenprinting, so today I'm going to give you the low-down on how to screen print at home. I've been silkscreening for 10 years (yikes, am I old?) now and this is my favorite method. It's clean and safe. Some methods require horrible chemicals or waking up in the middle of the night to set up a photo emulsion ...Continue Reading
