I'm participating in the Go To Patterns Fall Tour today! I did a little pattern hack to the Go To Leggings, which I have also hacked into jeggings before. I love this pattern! This time I used a cute floral fabric and added a ruffle to the waist for a little tutu effect. I love this look for babies. floral fire breathing dragon toy sewing pattern
I made a sweet little dragon toy with some leftover fabric from a dress I've been slowly cutting up. Isn't this fabric gorgeous? I was going to refashion it into something to wear, but I couldn't resist it long enough to get there! It's almost gone already. This dragon pattern is from the Sweetbriar Sisters. They make some cute softie toy patterns. The dragon toy sewing pattern was my favorite, but this new penguin toy is a close second, so cute! I loved sewing this pattern! It was easy enough to follow but also made me feel like a better ...Continue Reading
how to screen print at home, graphic tees for baby and a silhouette portrait giveaway!
Lots of things! This is a long post! And there's a giveaway at the end, like a pot of gold or something! If you follow on instagram, you may have seen these little tees pop up in my feed on Saturday. I had lots of questions about screenprinting, so today I'm going to give you the low-down on how to screen print at home. I've been silkscreening for 10 years (yikes, am I old?) now and this is my favorite method. It's clean and safe. Some methods require horrible chemicals or waking up in the middle of the night to set up a photo emulsion ...Continue Reading
zig zag bubblegum // project run and play all-stars week 2
It's Friday which means another round of Project Run and Play All Stars is up at the Project Run and Play blog. This week's challenge was to work with 2 yards of chevron fabric sent to each of us by Riley Blake. We each got to choose our color, so I chose grey. It was a little bit of an impulsive decision but I figured it would go with everything. I'm glad I chose a neutral because I changed my color palette a few times before finally deciding. This was actually the first outfit I completed, since I already had the fabric! The Zig ...Continue Reading

add bra cups to a shelf lined swimsuit
This swim suit is going on it's fourth summer! I know! It wasn't cheap when I got it but for lasting 4 years, I think I got my money's worth. So this is the fourth summer of the sparkly gold swimsuit and there is just one problem, the top is a little stretched out. I can't bring myself to throw it away, with that perfect little ruffle and bow. So instead, I sewed in some bra cups and it's back to wearable. I think this is pretty typical for swimsuit wear, everything stretches out a little. So if you have a suit with the same problem, here's ...Continue Reading
CELEBRATE THE BOY! [boy fabric round-up]
Hi everyone! Welcome to my little blog, see kate sew! Around here, we love boys! When I found out that I was having a boy all I could think about were ruffles and dresses. I decorated the nursery, slipping in a few feminine touches here and there. Flower print fabric inside the dresser. It's green, gender neutral, right? Kinda. Victorian frames. Girly. Lambs. A little girly. You get the idea. It was kinda girly. But kinda gender neutral. The moment he was placed on my lap and took his first breath I realized that this kid wasn't just a ...Continue Reading
