The case ties with a ribbon or twill tape around the outside so you can make it as tight as you need to keep everything inside.

If you prefer not to print the pattern, use these measurements:

  • Main (cut 2 fabric and 1 interfacing): 8″ x 18″
  • Large Pocket (cut 1 fabric): 11.5″ x 18″
  • Small Pocket (cut 1 fabric): 6″ x 18″

How to sew a roll-up first aid kit

Use a 3/8″ seam allowance.

Back one of the main fabrics with interfacing.

Fold both pockets in half lengthwise and press.

Stack the small pocket on the large pocket and line up the sides. Measure every 3 inches and mark with a fabric marker. The first line just needs to cover the small pocket. The next line should extend over both pockets. Keep the pattern going. Then stitch over just the 3 small lines. Make sure to backstitch at the top of each line of stitching.

Now put both pockets on the interfaced main piece. Line up the bottom edges and sides. Then stitch over the 2 marker lines that extend over both pockets. Also baste the sides of the pockets to keep in place.

Fold the twill tape or ribbon in half and pin in the middle of one of the short sides of your main piece, on top of the large pocket. Then place the second main piece face down with the twill tape inside. Sew around the edges at 3/8″ leaving a small opening on the short side without the twill tape.

Clip the corners then turn. Press and topstitch 1/8″ from the edges of the first aid kit, closing the opening as you sew.
