Scrappy Hearts Tutorial
Start by fusing 2 scraps of fabric large enough for the pattern piece (plus the scalloped edges) to the interfacing.

Pin the two layers together with wrong sides together and then pin the heart template in the middle. If you want to add a ribbon for hanging, cut a piece and loop it at the top of the heart. Stick a pin to keep it there while you sew.

Sew around the paper heart, just outside the edge of the paper. I like to leave the template on while sewing making sure not to sew through the paper. Leave a 1″ opening on one of the lower edges of the heart for stuffing.

Use pinking or scallop shears to trim around the heart right around the stitching. You’ll have to maneuver around the ribbon at the top. Leave the opening untrimmed until after stuffing.

Use a chopstick and a little bit of stuffing to stuff the heart.

Then finish sewing the opening closed and finish trimming the edges.
