Fabric Phone Stand Tutorial

Welcome to See Kate Sew! If you’re new here, sign up for my email newsletter for access to free patterns, tutorials and all the latest sewing news! Tour my sewing room HERE!

Make an easy fabric phone stand that any teen would love! This stand uses two fabrics for an extra fun look and is weighted at the bottom.

Fabric Phone Stand

This is such a cute room accessory and looks great on a nightstand!

This little stand makes a nice resting spot for your phone while you stream your favorite show!

Fabric Phone Stand

You can put your phone horizontal or vertical for watching videos or just resting nearby.

Fabric Phone Stand Materials

  • 2 fabric scraps
  • Fusible interfacing, a medium interfacing is best for this project but any interfacing will work
  • Poly beads (affiliate links)
  • Fiberfill

Poly beads are a plastic bead designed to add weight to sewing projects. You could replace with dry beans or rice if you prefer.

Download the pattern piece below. You can also use measurements, but I love a pattern piece, especially when I’m sewing multiple at the same time!

How to sew a fabric phone stand

Use a 3/8″ seam allowance.

Cut two layers from pattern piece, or use the measurements 7.5″ x 6″. Fuse back of both pieces with interfacing.

Sew the two pieces together with right sides together around the sides and bottom edge. Backstitch at the tops. Clip corners and trim seam allowance.

Turn and press. Then press under 1/4″ on the open top edge.

Fabric Phone Stand

Fill about an inch of the bag with poly beads and then draw a line as close to the beads as you can. Pin. Then sew about 1/4″ from the beads, try to keep your presser foot pressed up against the beads but be careful not to sew over the beads. Backstitch.

Put about 1/2 cup of poly beads inside.

Then stuff the rest of the phone stand with fiberfill stuffing. Stuff it as much as you can.

Then pin the top of the phone stand by matching the side seams and folding the rest of the fabric. This seam is perpendicular to the other seam to give us the shape of the stand.

Fabric Phone Stand

Sew, backstitch and trim threads to finish your fabric phone stand!
