Patchwork Envelope Clutch – Charm Square Sewing
Need a new accessory? This clutch is so fun and cute and holds all your essentials! This is a spin on my envelope clutch tutorial from many years ago! I loved creating this pattern and making it patchwork was SO FUN! Download the pattern below:
Print the pattern at 100% or DO NOT SCALE. This will print on 6 pages that need to be trimmed and taped together.
Patchwork Clutch Materials
- 16 charm squares
- 1/2 yard quilting cotton for lining
- 1/2 yard lightweight fusible interfacing
- Quilt batting
- Spray baste
- 1 button, any size – or KAM snap
Let’s make the patchwork panel! First sew your 16 charm squares together with a 1/4″ seam allowance. Sew 4 rows of 4.
Press the seam allowances of each row in opposite directions.
The sew the 4 rows together into a panel.
Back with interfacing. Then use spray baste to attach a layer of batting.
Now use your machine to topstitch the layers, creating a pretty quilting pattern. You can sew straight lines or freestyle stitching. I sewed about 1/4″ on both sides of each seam.
Now use your panel to cut 1 from the envelope clutch sewing pattern. Also cut 1 from lining. Then follow the rest of the tutorial below to assemble the pouch:
