How to Make Fabric Christmas Tree Ornaments
Cut out the templates you want to use. Find two fabric scraps and a piece of batting big enough for your selected template.
Adhere Heat N Bond to the back of the fabrics. Peel off the paper backings. Make a sandwich with the fabrics on the outside and the batting in the middle. Before pressing the layers together to adhere, trim up the top of the stack and place the pattern piece at the top. Cut a little bit of the top of the ornament through all 3 layers.
Fold a 12″ piece of ribbon in half to make a loop and place the ends on top of the batting. Then press all 3 layers together and finish cutting the shape out. The Heat N Bond will also hold the ribbon in the stack.
Topstitch around the shape about 1/8″ from the raw edges, pivoting at all points.
Glue on a ribbon bow to the top of the vintage ornament shaped ornaments if you want!
To make this a fun project for kids or grandkids, sew ornaments with solid fabric and let them decorate the ornaments with puffy paint. You can even use these shapes to create a Christmas garland!
