I wanted to give you an early Christmas present today, a FREE sleeve add-on pattern for the Penelope Peplum! This pattern is one of my favorites, I love sewing all the variations, but one thing was missing…a sleeve for cooler weather. So together with the free add-on sleeve pattern, the Penelope Peplum can keep you nice and warm (and oh so cute!) all winter long!
The long sleeve pattern works with the Penelope Peplum pattern (which now contains sizes XXS to 3XL!). Just replace the shorter sleeve pattern with this one and you’ve got yourself a new winter staple!
This dress also uses the Penelope Peplum Add-on Pattern, which includes two dress options and a second top option. This is the gathered dress.
Print out the long sleeve pattern (it’s just 4 pages!). Then tape it together like so:
The fabric really makes the dress! I had it hanging in my sewing room for weeks before using it (you may have spotted it on instagram). It’s a thick and heavy ponte de roma, perfect for winter! And the floral! I felt like it deserved a boho styling, so I paired it with a floppy hat, boots, braids and tights. Here is the fabric, you can click the photo below to see/buy/save it.

Oh and we should talk about this bag! Sew Caroline gave it to me and I loooove it. I love totes. I love puns. And I love sewing. Love love love, they are in her shop if you want one.

That’s a great dress ! I wouldn’t hesitate making it if I had another body. Sadly dresses like that aren’t good for my figure …

I’m loving the light hair on you!

Dear Kate,
This is awesome! I love the addition!
One question for the upcoming year: will you plan another sew-a-long? I am sorry to say I missed this GREAT one due to hand surgery. my hand went numb around the time you were getting ready to do this pattern and it takes FOREVER to actually see the person to help you figure out the problem. I just started sewing again THIS month…so , uh, yeah it’s been kind of a bummer to watch everyone do so many lovely things. But THIS is truly perfect! Congrats!
BTW: there were 2 cysts squeezing my artery in my wrist which caused the numbness. After PT I’m feeling back to me ole self! Finally, YEAH!!!
I really hope you do another great project like this one. I would definitely join in and sew for the larger size/ curvy gals! I figure I’m about an 18 now. Woo Hoo! This is the year of plus!
Take care and best wishes!
