I wrote a post about some of my favorite fun sewing books for beginners a while back. Those books are full of fun projects and great things! I love looking through them for inspiration, too.
But if I were to recommend just ONE book to seamstresses, I would recommend The New Complete Guide to Sewing, by Readers Digest. It has everything you need to know. Seriously. I don’t use everyday, but when I need to know how to do something, anything (the right way) it’s there. With clear diagrams and illustrations to make it nice and clear.
Some of the pages have really great colors.
The best sewing reference book around. No doubt. If you’re in the market for sewing books, GET THIS ONE!
More sewing 101.
Do you have a “sewing 101” request? Anything you want to know about sewing? I don’t know much, but I’ll tell you what I do know!

I have this and I love it!

I recently went through all the sewing books in my local library trying to find the “best” beginners guide to share with my readers. I’m surprised this one wasn’t among them, but I’ll have to check it out soon. Thanks a lot! My favorite so far is The Sewing Book by Alison Smith – © 2009.

THis is the one we have to purchase for our Fashion Design classes. It is the main one we use for sewing class. :)
Great book!
