How to Sew a Quilt Block Sweatshirt
Sew the 9″ churn dash block using the instructions in my churn dash block tutorial.
The block will finish about 9.5″ square – trim up the edges if needed. Back with fusible interfacing. Cut a piece of light colored fabric 9.5″ square to match the size of the quilt block.
Sew the quilt block and lining piece together with right sides together, 1/4″ from the edges, ALL the way around without leaving an opening.
Sew around the ENTIRE BLOCK at 1/4,” pivoting at the corners. Trim the corners and taper them out a little bit.
Then cut a slit into the lining about 2-3″ and turn the block right side out through the hole.
Press well. Then center and pin on your sweatshirt. Use a ruler to help you. Place the block about 2-3″ below the neckline.
Topstitch around the block 1/8″ from the edges to secure.
Trim threads and press well.
