This was such a fun project! I haven’t made one of these Ruffled Aprons for years. The pattern was released maybe 4 years ago, it’s FREE when you sign up for my newsletter, but also available in my shop if you don’t want to sign up!
But… Sprout Patterns also carries the pattern in their printed fabric! Which means you can pick your fabrics from Spoonflower (through the Sprout website!) And that means, you can create your own designs, upload them to Spoonflower and then print them out with Sprout! The fabric comes with the pattern pieces PRINTED on them! So you just cut the lines and then start sewing! The whole pattern part is totally removed from your process, so it’s that much faster!
Sewing the apron was really fun. You get to do just a little bit of everything sewing, a pocket, a ruffle, straps and gathering. But none of the techniques are hard and it comes together quickly. Especially without the pattern taping/cutting/mess! I’m itching to make another already!
The grey fabric is Enchanted Floral Large and the pocket and ruffle are another floral, Summer Bright Floral. And I had it printed on lightweight twill denim, which is a nice thickish fabric that is perfect for an apron! Floral on floral on floral, please!
And, I think, giving someone a little project kit in the form of a panel of fabric and maybe a spool of thread is a super great idea! Or sew up an apron and pair it with some cute dishes, some cupcakes or something similar for a neighbor gift! These cute dishes are from the Pioneer Woman line.
I’m almost inspired to bake some cupcakes or bread with this cute thing! Almost!

I love this apron, but through Sprout it is an adult size, but your picture makes it appear to be child size. Am I mistaken that this isn’t for kids?
