Mini Barbie Quilt Tutorial
To sew this mini quilt, start by using your 12 charm squares to make half square triangles! You don’t have to cut the charm squares at all since they are precut for us.
Place 2 charm squares on top of each other with right sides together. Draw a diagonal line from one corner to the other. Sew along the sides of the drawn line, 1/4” away from line on either side. Cut down line with rotary cutter, being careful not to cut through the stitching. Open the blocks and press the seam allowances to one side. Repeat so you have 12 Half Square Triangles (HST).

Then we need to turn the HSTs into quarter square triangles by combining two different HSTs. Place the two HSTs on top of each other with right sides together, nesting the seam allowances.

Keep sewing until you have 12 HSTs. Trim the blocks down to 3.5″ square.
Then sew together in rows of 3. You’ll have 4 rows. Press the seam allowances in opposite directions and then sew all the rows together.

Spray the back of the fabric panel with basting spray and attach to a layer of batting. Trim excess batting. Use the patchwork panel to cut a backing piece.

Lay the backing face down on the patchwork panel and sew together with a 3/8″ seam allowance, leaving a small opening on the side. Turn right side out and press. Then topstitch all the way around the quilt, 1/8″ from the edges, closing the opening while you sew.

Adding quilted topstitching is an optional step that will make your quilt look more like a comfy cozy quilt. I followed the diagonal lines to give my quilt a comforter look.

This mini Barbie quilt pattern also makes a great picnic blanket for your dolls!
