We have been reading a ton this summer - gotta earn the library prizes! So we've been at the library picking out books to read and needed some book bag totes so I created this book bag pattern. Mostly so I don't have to carry everything! Haha, tricky little sewing project. But I also want to encourage reading and they are just fun! These are bright and fun book bags with bold feminist sayings on the front - the Future is Female, Girl Power, and RUN THE WORLD. This book bag pattern has an interior pocket for holding extra things and is ...Continue Reading
Lip Quilt Pattern
The Lip Quilt Pattern is available now! This fun quilt is a great one to showcase favorite fabrics with bold patterns. The lips are appliqué and stitched on with a blanket stitch. My favorite part is the striped border made with Nail Polish Stripe! This pattern was designed in correlation with my new fabric line, Kiss Me, Kate, which starts shipping to stores in July! Since the fabric line isn't out yet, I also included a solid color way in the pattern, but you can also make up your own! Grab the pattern and get sewing! ...Continue Reading

Girl’s Backpack Sewing Pattern with Simplicity and Cricut
I was thrilled to work with Simplicity and Cricut to make another sewn item! This backpack sewing pattern is way cute and super simple to sew! I was actually really surprised at how quickly the pattern went together - which made it super fun and rewarding! The pattern is preloaded into Cricut Design Space, a free interface, then sent directly to my Cricut Maker - which meant I didn't have to cut any of the pattern pieces by hand! Amazing! I've written about two other things I've made with Simplicity patterns and the Cricut Maker - this front ...Continue Reading
Easy Summer Dress Sewing Pattern sans ruffle
Here's another version of the EASY SUMMER DRESS pattern that just released! This summer dress sewing pattern has two versions: 1 with the ruffle sleeve and this one without! It's a sleeveless tank sundress, the ultimate sundress! Because there is no ruffle on this one, it's even simpler to sew. This is definitely a 1 hour or less project and my favorite part is using my favorite quilting cottons! I made this one with a contrast pocket, pulling one of the colors out of the floral print. The grid fabric is from my old doll panel line with ice ...Continue Reading

Simplicity Baby Girl Dress Pattern with Cricut
I'm so excited about this cute frilly Simplicity baby girl dress pattern that I made using the CRICUT MAKER! I loved using my new fabric line for this and think this layered dress is the perfect to showcase a fabric line or squeeze as many prints that you love into one project. Sometimes it's hard to pick which fabric to use on a project, but with this one you get to use a bunch at once! The pattern has a professional finish but it is fairly easy overall - and even easier since there are no paper pattern pieces to deal with! Cricut ...Continue Reading
Braided Leather Pacifier Clip Tutorial
I originally shared this post on Gugu Guru almost two years ago. CRYING FACE. Ah that tiny baby girl! These braided leather pacifier clips are the cutest little things and they work with any pacifier. As a bonus, they are super simple to make. We worked with UppaBaby on this post and we still use and love this stroller, it's the Vista in black. It's amazing! I actually still take it grocery shopping with Mae because I prefer it to carts (and she has a clean place to sit!) You can read my full review here. These photos are taking me back ...Continue Reading
Kiss Me, Kate Quilt Market Booth Tour!
My pregnant self and I went to Portland last weekend for Spring Quilt Market! It was a total blast, as always, but it was my first time presenting a fabric line in a booth. So, it was extra fun! It was also my first time at a Spring Quilt Market, in the past I have been to Fall which is always held in Houston. Quilt Market is a twice-a-year convention where fabric shop owners come to purchase new fabric lines! It is really a huge celebration of creativity and sewing that is always fun to be a part of. Like ComicCon for sewing nerds! In the ...Continue Reading
Baby Shoes Pattern with Simplicity and Cricut
Nothing is cuter than tiny baby shoes! I'm so excited to share a few CricutXSimplicity patterns over the next few weeks and this is the very first one! I chose this pattern because it's adorable and because its such a fun project for anticipating baby! But mostly, adorable! I always get a little baby-sewing crazy when I'm pregnant and I think that's okay! The best part about this pattern is you can use any kind of fabric so you can make it for a boy or a girl. I chose some fun & bright prints and also a few more rugged fabrics. I ...Continue Reading

Channeling my inner Tom Haverford with this cute leather pouch - Treat Yo Self! These make great gift card holders and they double as a cosmetic pouch! Stuff it with a gift card to Target, Sephora or just a Visa gift card. Maybe add some lip balm or something fun to amp it up! These pouches have leather on the bottom - and it's metallic! Stepping into sewing with leather is much less daunting when you just use it for part of your project! This post includes templates for the DIY zipper pouch that you can send to the Cricut Maker to ...Continue Reading
