It was pretty fun making a Manhattan Blouse in this lemon fabric I designed for Riley Blake! It was like a full-circle design experience! I made this fabric with summer in mind and I think it's perfect for the Manhattan Blouse! Screams summer if you ask me! I bought a bushel of lemons for this photoshoot (maybe not a whole bushel...) and we had fun! I used a little black button for the closure. And made a Manhattan Doll Dress for the dolly! In this post I am going to show you how to sew the Manhattan Blouse step-by-step with ...Continue Reading

SOHO-along: Fabric selection for the Soho and Manhattan Blouses
Hopefully you're gathering materials for the Soho/Manhattan Sewalong, so let's talk FABRIC! The SOHO blouse works best with lightweight woven fabrics such as: voile, lawn, poplin, double gauze, eyelet, lace, chiffon, chambray, and similar fabrics. The Manhattan Blouse works in all the same fabrics as the SOHO, but also quilting cottons! I have used quilting cottons for the Soho, but it is harder to get a nice front gather with the SOHO because the shape is a little different. So, if you want to use it, go for it, ...Continue Reading
FREE Sewing Coloring Pages
The coloring page craze is going strong and I have to say I do love coloring! So I made up some free sewing coloring pages for everyone to enjoy! There are 3 designs, a sewing machine, seam ripper pattern and a sewing quote. The sewing quote is one of my favorites, "My soul is fed with needle and thread." The sewing machine has lots of patterns within it for a more intricate coloring page, lots to color! I'm hoping this seam ripper pattern will encourage you to NOT use your seam ripper...like a subliminal sewing exercise or something! ...Continue Reading
One Hour Modern Granny Square Quilt with quilt cloth!
I have a new cheater quilt cloth to share with you today! This is a new pattern in 3 color ways! I'm calling it Modern Granny Square Quilt Cloth because the pattern reminds me of crochet granny squares. I love the simple pattern and I STILL haven't decided which color to use for my baby, even though I made these a few months ago! Haha. I may keep 2 or maybe even all three. This fabric sews up into a simple baby quilt just like the One-Hour Hexagon Quilt or the One-Hour Triangle Quilt tutorials. The quilt cloth comes in 3 color ...Continue Reading
DIY Pom Pom Swaddle Blankets
I originally published this tutorial on the Gugu Guru blog and I'm posting it here today along with more information about my= fabric and pom pom sources! Pom pom trim is so fun to sew with and adds a fun pop of color to any project! For these blankets, I used solid color double gauze and paired with a fun trim color. I never have enough swaddle blankets around with a new baby and with my third coming soon, I wanted some cute, washable swaddles that will also look really great in photos! The 4moms RockaRoo is so stylish in it's sleek grey ...Continue Reading
FREE Cat Bed Sewing Pattern
This post, Cat Bed Sewing Pattern, is sponsored by Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores. I don't talk about my cat too much. Honestly, we don't have a very good relationship???? She doesn't really like me and the feeling is mutual, hahaha. But, the kids adore her and include her in every listing of family members that ever takes place. They play with her and dote on her which is really sweet to watch. Almost sweet enough to forgive the nightly attacks on my feet. Almost! So I made her a diy cat bed as a thank you from the kids I ...Continue Reading
Hello world onesie tutorial with cut file!
I'm never sick of onesie crafting so when Silhouette sent me a Cameo machine to review, I knew that's what I would do first. I used black heat set vinyl, which was super duper easy and turned out really crisp and cute. I'm excited to put this onesie on my little girl! I designed the graphic and have included it below as a Silhouette Studio download. So you just have to download it, unzip and send it to your own machine! Materials: -Silhouette Cameo -Heat Transfer Starter Kit, (or buy it in this bundle with the machine) -Hello World Cut ...Continue Reading
Ballet Back Knit Dress Tutorial
I have a new Pippa hack for you today! I've posted a few other variations of the Pippa Peplum pattern already, it's just such a great starting point for so many styles! This one has a dropped back for a ballet look. And it's super easy, too! You can really make this with either the circle skirt (from the add-on pattern) or the basic gathered skirt. This one is the gathered skirt dress. This fabric is my favorite grey jersey ever! I ordered a few yards of it and made myself a shirt plus this dress. Without realizing it I ordered a ...Continue Reading
Wipeable Foldable Portable Changing Mat Tutorial (with snaps!)
I've been hoarding this pretty floral oilcloth for years now and finally thought up the perfect project for it! This is a super simple changing mat with a few great features! The oilcloth makes it wipeable and it folds up into a little rectangle with a strap and snap to hold it together. This changing mat tutorial includes a pattern and is the perfect size for baby's first year and has a layer of batting for a bit of softness. Is it making me excited to change baby diapers for the first time in over 6 months??? MAYBE! The power of a ...Continue Reading
