I'm so excited to share this Zippy Top dress hack today! I first made myself a dress with the Zippy Top pattern for ALT Summit (a design conference), way back in January when the pattern was still in production. I had a maxi skirt with a stain on it that was craving a refashion. I also had a lot of extra curtains laying around because I had cut them too short. So I mashed them together. I used a light pink fabric underneath the lace so it wouldn't be see-though. I didn't put a zipper in the back of this one, mostly because I was rushing to ...Continue Reading

striped nightstand ikea hack
Yesterday I shared the floral nightstand tutorial and today I'm sharing the other half. This is a tutorial for this black and white striped nightstand, also made with a SELJE nightstand from ikea. I really wanted some fun nightstands that went together. Since they have the same shape, why no do a floral and a stripe? Pattern mixing is cool in home decor, too, right? Materials: -SELJE nightstand -1/2" electrical tape -spray paint for metal The method for this nightstand is really simple. First, assemble the nightstand. Then ...Continue Reading
liberty of london floral nightstand ikea hack!
I made these a few months ago but I sat on the post forever because it seemed like a weird thing to post during the holidays. And then it just kept getting pushed back, I can't believe it's already April! So we've been using these for about 5 or 6 months now and they are holding up well! It's nice to have that perspective I reaaaaally wanted a floral nightstand, but I could not find one all over the internet. Sometimes being a creative person is a problem, because when you want something (say a floral nightstand) you cannot let it go. ...Continue Reading

sewing 101// make your own laminate fabric + tips for sewing with laminates
Written by Michael Ann of Michael Ann Made. Hello friends! Michael Ann here from Michael Ann Made, and today, I'm excited to venture into the world of laminates and coated fabrics with you! Now what is a laminate? Any fabric with a plasticy coating - oilcloth, vinyl, chalk board fabric, and some faux leather. These fabrics are great for projects that might get a little messy, like baby bibs or makeup bags, as you can just wipe them down with a damp cloth. But what if you can't find the perfect coordinating print for ...Continue Reading
ZIPPERS + a free simple skirt pattern
This post is sponsored by Craftsy. I've partnered with Craftsy to polish up my sewing skills through their online classes and share my experience with you over the next few months. I hope you enjoy! With the recent release of my Zippy Top (pictured and tucked in), you may have noticed that I love zippers! I think they can be really cute and are really functional. I also just like the word 'zipper'. I always tell a beginner zipper-installer to start with zipper pouches, because they are a really easy project that yields great results and ...Continue Reading
