I loved playing with this novelty fabric from Riley Blake! I saw it first in the catalog that my lemon and pretzel fabric is in. My daughter saw it in the catalog, so Riley Blake sent some over and I came up with this unicorn fabric 2-piece set! It's two pieces but since they are made from the same fabric, they look like a dress! The top is a Little Zippy top with a red zipper and the bottom is a simple gathered skirt. I'm working on a tutorial for the skirt that I will post soon! This is a fun outfit because you can also split the ...Continue Reading

These photos are from the same photoshoot as the Zippy Top Plus release photos, and we have more outfits coming! I'm just going to trickle them out over the next few weeks. Jungle Avenue kid clothes!
I was pretty excited to get a package of fabric from Sara of Sew Sweetness. We've be online buddies for years and I even got to meet her (briefly) at Quilt Market last year. I've always admired Sara's taste in fabric, bags and quilts. She's amazing at what she does! Sara designed a line of fabric for Art Gallery called Jungle Avenue and the fabrics in this post are from it! I use one of the wovens to make a little zippy top. The fabric is called Greenhouse Lane and it is really great quality, it feels different than a normal quilting cotton. ...Continue Reading

Written by Mandy Pellegrin of Fabric Paper Glue. I love working with leather, but if you're new to the material, it can be intimidating. This belt is super cute and, even better, super easy! DIY Studded Leather Belt // Supplies: 1.5" wide white leather strap, utility ...Continue Reading
maxi skirt + curtain dress mashup // my pink ALT dress
I'm so excited to share this Zippy Top dress hack today! I first made myself a dress with the Zippy Top pattern for ALT Summit (a design conference), way back in January when the pattern was still in production. I had a maxi skirt with a stain on it that was craving a refashion. I also had a lot of extra curtains laying around because I had cut them too short. So I mashed them together. I used a light pink fabric underneath the lace so it wouldn't be see-though. I didn't put a zipper in the back of this one, mostly because I was rushing to ...Continue Reading
ZIPPERS + a free simple skirt pattern
This post is sponsored by Craftsy. I've partnered with Craftsy to polish up my sewing skills through their online classes and share my experience with you over the next few months. I hope you enjoy! With the recent release of my Zippy Top (pictured and tucked in), you may have noticed that I love zippers! I think they can be really cute and are really functional. I also just like the word 'zipper'. I always tell a beginner zipper-installer to start with zipper pouches, because they are a really easy project that yields great results and ...Continue Reading
Lips + Stripes Emma Dress
Continuing with more girls clothing inspiration today! Yesterday I shared a Little Zippy Dress hack made with my new fabric collection, Kiss Me, Kate. And today I'm sharing another similar dress made from the Emma Dress Pattern. I love pairing one of the novelty prints with one of the apparel prints for clothing! So for this one, I paired the grey lips print for the bodice with the coral stripes for the skirt! This collection is just so girly, I can't stop making cute girly clothes! You can do the stripes vertical or horizontal. I did ...Continue Reading
DIY zippered pouch tutorial flat bottom + Makeup Faves
Getting zippy again today with this DIY zippered pouch tutorial flat bottom design. This DIY is super similar to the basic zipper pouch and the quilted cosmetic bag tutorial, but has a flat bottom so it can stand up! I love a makeup bag that stands up while I grab stuff out of it. That flat bottom design makes the zippered pouch feel bigger and hold bigger bottles and containers a little bit better. The pattern piece for the flat bottom pouch is included, it has special cutouts that make creating this zippered pouch really simple! I used ...Continue Reading

The Penelope Peplum has 3 new sizes: XXS, 2XL and 3XL, making it the fourth PLUS size pattern available in my shop (Joining the Dreamer, the Icon and the Zippy!). My good friend here styled this heather beige peplum with pleather jeggings and boots for the winter! I love this look and I especially love how flattering the Penelope Peplum is. It emphasizes ...Continue Reading

This is my official Alphabet collection look! If you missed the launch post last week, the Pattern Anthology Fall Collection is out right now! This is the second and final week to snag the collection at 40% off! Click here to check it out.
