sewing 101: marking fabric with thread
sewing 101// marking fabric with thread Today I wanted to share how I usually mark fabric. There are so many things from patterns that need to be transferred over to the fabric to make sewing easier. Things like: pocket placement, pleat markings, ruffle markings, sleeve ease markings, etc. I'm doing this example on a welt pocket for the Kennedy Coat (almost done!). Using thread to mark fabric is a great way to mark all layers of fabric easily without ruining your pattern! I'm using a very dark thread so it's easy for you to see, but I ...Continue Reading

STYLO 3 // the KENNEDY coat
I'm thrilled to be a part of issue 3 of STYLO magazine today! I wrote a feature called "1 Pattern, 5 Ways" so I styled up my new KENNEDY coat pattern (coming soon!) on my daughter 5 different ways. The black dress is made of a nice pleather also from Michael Levine. ...Continue Reading
EASY cat costumes
My kids requested cats this year. I was pretty thrilled with that. I think we all just knew they would be cats, since they are obsessed. They even have alter-egos as cats, it's weird and amazing at the same time. I went the easy route with these costumes, mostly store bought with ears and a tail! We wanted black since our cat is black, but H&M didn't have black sweatsuits so we went with grey. They both were thrilled with these simple costumes. And as a bonus, the outfit will last beyond Halloween. Just remove the tail ...Continue Reading

(Before I was Blonde!) This is my favorite Dreamer Top so far. I've made quite a few but this one is in a really loose sweater knit. I LOVE SWEATER KNIT! It's so comfy and so nice. I was a little nervous to sew with it, but I just used a wide zig zag stitch and it was actually really easy, not any different than any other knit. I picked up this seafoam green fabric locally and it has become my new favorite top. I paired this with lots of black for a cool fall look. Outfit details: Top: Dreamer Top in seafoam sweater ...Continue Reading
