easy baby dress pattern for the summertime
The fabric in this post was provided by Two Blue Birdies, an online fabric shop based in Australia. Their shop is full of beautiful fabrics and 100% wool felt! *UPDATE* This pattern is now available in more sizes for girls 2T-10! Happy May! I can't believe it is already May. The summer is one of my favorite times, and it's also fun to sew for. I knew this stack of pretty fabric had to be turned into baby clothes, the colors are perfect for summer. I picked them all out without realized the color scheme was very green and pink! I guess ...Continue Reading
boy friday: fabric toy bucket tutorial
My little 2-going-on-3 year old is obsessed with trucks! OBSESSED. If you follow, you might know that. It's the cutest little obsession which I am happy to feed. His favorite trucks are the little metal Matchbox cars. I thought of this idea when I saw him trying to carry about 7 of his trucks at a time. He would put them all up against his chest and tried to hold on with his little hands, but they were always falling out. So I made him a little bucket, a truck bucket so he can carry them around. I showed him how he can put them all in the ...Continue Reading
kcw: day 1 // DIY tribal leggings
Are you sewing kids clothes this week for the kids clothes week challenge(kcw)? I whipped up these tribal print leggings yesterday. DIY tribal leggings sorta had to happen after I found this fabric. They were so so easy! So easy that I made some for the baby, too. And now they have a matching outfit, hah! I didn't mean to make them an entire outfit that matched, but it happened and I'm okay with it. (The 'hola' shirt tutorial is here.) I used the Go To Leggings sewing pattern that Andrea sent me as a gift when it was released. Super ...Continue Reading
vintage easter // project run and play all stars week 4
This is my final look for Project Run and Play All Stars. The theme was Spring Formal. I made a boy easter outfit with vintage undertones and bright modern colors! I was originally planning to make a vintage style outfit in classic vintage colors, but I decided I wasn't allowed to buy any more fabric for the challenges and made this combination with things I already had. I did purchase the little blue buttons, but everything else was from my stash. Sometimes it is good to have rules about buying fabric, heh. (Only sometimes!) The ...Continue Reading
how to screen print at home, graphic tees for baby and a silhouette portrait giveaway!
Lots of things! This is a long post! And there's a giveaway at the end, like a pot of gold or something! If you follow on instagram, you may have seen these little tees pop up in my feed on Saturday. I had lots of questions about screenprinting, so today I'm going to give you the low-down on how to screen print at home. I've been silkscreening for 10 years (yikes, am I old?) now and this is my favorite method. It's clean and safe. Some methods require horrible chemicals or waking up in the middle of the night to set up a photo emulsion ...Continue Reading
pattern hack: short sleeved varsity cowl neck pullover with stars and stripes
Disclaimer: The pattern doesn't say to decorate your shirt with MUD, that was my own toddler's contribution. Turns out a photo shoot without a husband helping is um, hard! Pattern: Peekaboo Pattern Shop Varsity Cowl Neck pullover How I hacked it: Shortened the sleeves for springtime. This pattern is a printable pdf pattern and the sleeve piece happened to be on two pages that were to be taped together. To make it elbow length, I just didn't tape the second piece to the sleeve pattern and also omitted the sleeve cuffs. Despite it ...Continue Reading
gold collar girl // project run and play all stars week 3
Click here to go vote! The theme for this week's Project Run and Play All Stars challenge was "All in the Details". I think that is the broadest theme EVER so I had a really hard time with it. I skipped ahead to week 4 and completely finished that before coming back to week three last week. I started 2 outfits that just didn't work out before deciding to make a baby outfit. Sewing for Lena is always fun! I bought some gold spandex for week 2 but it didn't end up working. I had to use it though so thought a dress with a cute gold collar ...Continue Reading
the zig zag dress pattern release!
My newest pattern is here: the Zig Zag dress pattern! You may recognize it from last week's Project Run and Play entry. I finished this look way back in January and couldn't wait to turn it into a pattern, so it has been in the works for a while (but I couldn't say anything--the worst!). The shape is just fun and it's pretty simple and easy to sew. This pattern is designed to be a shorter dress that looks cute over leggings or tights, but you can lengthen (or shorten) the skirt to make it a longer dress or shorter blouse. This pattern is ...Continue Reading
pleather star onesie
Refashioning onesies never gets old! I love onesies because they are the one pieces of clothing that is totally baby only. Anyways, I have a few of these “Calvin Klein” onesies. I don’t love the wording on it, so I covered the onesie with a pleather star pattern that covered up the text. I did this way back in November(?) and now in March it finally fits Lena. Had to wait for a cute model to get here to post it. It’s really easy to make this star onesie. I used my AccuQuilt GO! Baby fabric cutter and star cutting die to cut the stars from ...Continue Reading
zig zag bubblegum // project run and play all-stars week 2
It's Friday which means another round of Project Run and Play All Stars is up at the Project Run and Play blog. This week's challenge was to work with 2 yards of chevron fabric sent to each of us by Riley Blake. We each got to choose our color, so I chose grey. It was a little bit of an impulsive decision but I figured it would go with everything. I'm glad I chose a neutral because I changed my color palette a few times before finally deciding. This was actually the first outfit I completed, since I already had the fabric! The Zig ...Continue Reading
