Homemade halloween continues with this post: how to make a waffle costume! I made this Eggo waffle to go with the Eleven costume for a Stranger Things theme. But, you can also pair this waffle with other breakfast foods (think eggs and bacon!) or just wear it on it’s own!
The Eleven and giant waffle pairing makes a great last minute couples costume! The waffle is particularly easy to make – you may have the supplies you need on hand already!
There is nothing cuter than a little waffle running around next to Eleven! I love how simple this sibling costume is and how perfect it is for hardcore Stranger Things fans!
The Eleven dress is also easy to DIY – click here for that tutorial!
Stranger Things is such a great Halloween theme for a group because there are so many items and characters you can use for any number of people!
Waffle Costume Materials
- Cardboard or poster board
- Yellow paint, affiliate links
- Yellow pool noodle* or additional poster board
- Nylon strapping
- (Eggo version) Red foam sheet
*I definitely recommend the pool noodle for this tutorial because it gives such a waffle like texture. If you don’t have a yellow one, you can spray paint the noodle, too.
How to make a waffle costume
Start by creating a large circle from your cardboard or poster board.
Use a string and pin to create a homemade protractor to create a circle shape. Use a craft knife to cut it out. Spray paint yellow.
Carefully cut out strips of the pool noodle with a knife or cut 3″ strips of poster board. Glue to circle.
Use a glue gun to attach straps to the back. This waffle is worn like a backwards backpack and it may be helpful to have your model hold the waffle while you decide where to place the straps.
Add a strap in the back to hold the shoulder straps on.
DIY Eggo Waffle Costume
Use a red craft foam sheet to create a cursive Eggo logo. Glue on.
If you want to add butter to your waffle: Use two 8″ squares of foam or paper to make butter. Glue on to waffle.
