What is a fat quarter of fabric?
A fat quarter is a quarter yard of fabric cut from a half yard, parallel to the selvage. That way you get a piece of fabric measuring about 18″ by 21″. A typical quarter yard of fabric off the bolt will measure about 9″ by 42″ so there are more project possibilities with a fat quarter.

These are so great! Thank you for rounding up so many ideas. I’m a fairly basic sewer (pillowcovers, aprons, etc) but I’d love to start doing more difficult things and getting more experience.
